I collect everything.

Some of my favorite coins came from a friend in Ireland whom I corresponded with back in college days in the 1960's. He sent me some beautiful English and Irish coins.

My coins range from a few high end gold coins ($5, double eagles), to common coinage I like. I have about 35 to 40 Whitman and Dansco folders, mostly uncompleted. I have completed Jefferson nickels, Roosevelt dimes, JFK Halfs, Franklin Halfs, English Britannias, and ASE's.

In our few cruises to the Caribbean, I have collected coins from the countries visited, as well as The Bahamas.

I have proof sets starting with the early 1960's, and have bought quite a few items offered by the U.S. Mint.

I have purchsed proof and speciman sets from the Canadian and English mints.

I am currently collecting Australian Kookaburras and have nearly completed that collection.

I also have a handful of ancient coins, and a little U.S. paper currency dating back to the early 1900's.

And, probably 40-50 foreign notes, primarily Canadian and from Mexico.

A few coins in frames to decorate my office.

And, thanks to Terry, a small number of very attractive Euro coins.

To summarize, my collection consists of many coins, very few of great value, but all of interest to me, and enjoyed by me and my family, and will be passed on to our children in the hopes that they will continue their coin collecting activies and then pass their collections on to their children.

As far as I can tell, most of my coins are cheap as chips, although I have couple that think worth a bit, namely the 1985 five cent and my 1937 Crown.

Relitively speaking of course.

I have been collecting since the 1975. I was four years old and found a Wheat cent in circulation. I was hooked!

I hoard coins, and other stuff for that matter. My coin accumulation consists of numerous inexpensive U.S. coins ranging from 1794 to present, including over 20,000 wheat cents, hundreds of silver coins, over a thousand nickels, and a few gold coins (including two pieces that grade G/VG); hundreds of ancient coins, mostly Greek and Roman, but also some from China and elsewhere; a hundred or so medieval European coins; probably over a thousand modern world coins (1600-present); a hundred or so pieces of U.S. and foreign currency; and a few tokens and medals. There are a few nice pieces, but I haven't paid over $1000 for any single item (although one or two are now worth over $1000). In general, I like to have large quantities of circulated coins.

Other collections include antiquities, books, records, CDs, wine, weird stuff, and other things I'm not thinking of right now.

And I the same. I've got a couple of really nice coins I've paid a couple hundred AU$ for (including my current avatar - gotta love them Rhodian didrachms), but I'm not too proud to rummage a dealer's scratchtray looking for coins which to me can be 'just as nice'.
