Is that a die crack through the head?

Yes, I believe so. This same die could possibly continue to crack and leave an even longer result on later coins and if completely unnoticed could perhaps ultimately lose that portion of the die altogether and begin striking Cuds.

Is the line raised, incuse or both? If raised it is a die crack,if incuse or incuse with raised edges it is a scratch on the coin.

It is raised. I examined from side to confirm. Does errors like this make it valuable?

Looks like a die crack, and no die cracks don't make coins more valuable unless they are a marker for a different variety that is valuable. And even in that case it isn't the crack that makes it valuable, it's the variety.

For some strange reason die cracks make me smile. I think there's even a thread here on 'Post a Die Crack' or something like that.

Thanks guys! Yeah I'm really enjoying my new scope. I ordered it like 6 weeks ago and finally got it. I've been like and 8yr old kid from the 80s waiting on the mail order refrigerator perry g.i joe figure!

Back in my day technology was a flashlight. I remember the advent of color film. We made most of our toys back then. And enjoyed doing that.

I've discovered this scope has a dial wheel that adjusts the brightness to combat glare. It's a nifty tool.

I bet you will still need to put a filter on it,I had to on both of my scopes. I also put a filter on a LED flashlight I use instead of the lights on the scope.

Still experimenting with different settings. I never dreamed I'd be putting such efforts into taking pictures of coins hahaha. Sometimes it feels like I'm examining micro film of the zapruter reel
