The dark & unappealing toning notwithstanding, any actual wear seems to be minimal. So where on the grading scale would this one fall in your opinion?

I would say AU details (environmental damage).

It's been in the ground. Ugly AU details env damage and mechanical damage.

. Depending how this came to you, this could be a neat coin to own. I don't have any 150 year old coins that someone found buried in the ground, only to be found a lot later. If you found it, or got it cheap at a garage sale or estate auction you did well.
