WOW! That is a MAD coin, Misalighned Dye. I really like it because yours is actually missing some of the lettering on the reverse and a little of the year on the obverse.Definitely a KEEPER! Congrats...

to the CCF! You have a quarter that was struck about 5% off-center to the 4 o'clock (K:4) position. It also shows the obverse die had some collar clash, seen just over the TY of LIBERTY, or in the K:2 position. This coin either circulated for some time or it was someone's pocket piece, because it shows quite a bit of cirulation wear and even some damage. Nice find.

Quote: Off center...mads are only one sided affected Are you sure a coin can't have a MAD on each side? John1

Only the hammer die is adjustable. So it the coin is not in the collar, both sides can be struck out of collar and off center. So it is an off center. No reeds because it was not in the collar. Slight bent so it was probably above the collar with the anvil die with the obverse die.

So a MAD can only happen on one side of the same coin? John1

No, MAD's can affect both sides, and it is possible to have a coin showing a MAD on both sides and in different directions. The theng is the anvil die, since it is restrained within the collar, can never be more than slightly mis-aligned.
