I just found this penny and I can see a different coin under the top part of OBV that is peeling away. Can you help me figure out what this could be or am I just wishing for a valuable coin to pay my medical bills to much? As always thanks so much! If you need additional pictures please let me know --If it is wrong stamp please let me know if it demands a high price and Should I have it slabbed?

I believe your coin shows a lamination flaw of some type. If that's the case, then it's not worth any more than it already was, IMO.

Wait for other opinions, though.

Might be a Struck Through Grease with grit in it. Not a wrong planchet.

@MW, yes a wrong planchet error should most likely be out of spec on the weight. What does this cent weigh?

It looks like a Hand holding Cross or Flag--Weight 3.2 so thats fine. Could Mint have stamped some other coin under it? I tried looking at other OBV coins but can not figure it out.

Ok well it is hard to say for sure, but I have to agree with @jon1 that it was Struck Through Grease. The rest is Pareidolia.

I think the area in question is Struck Through Grease and debris. This image is a 1992 Silver Eagle that was Struck Through Grease and debris. Your coin shows the same type of lines in the area that I feel is struck through.

Your coin is an error, it's just not in collectible condition.

I'm in the strike-through camp as well.

Possible struck through debris, that later fell off the coin. The coin is probably in the normal weight range. This area will be incuse.
