Apologies for the vague title, I have no idea what to say about this thing. Let me tell where I'm finding things because it's my second odd question this week. I got my hands on a small estate lot of buffalo, war and error nickels. I've identified a few common die clashes, etc. and then I find this...so, my question to you, experts, is this anything? I can only imagine the former owner kept it as a possible error.   |

What devices that are there is mirrored. What is the weight? Is the object attracted to a magnet?

It's actually mirrored, I didn't swap it while editing. That's what made me think it might be different. Thanks for the clarity, though!

Well someone may have added a reverse onto a blank planchet. The devices are incuse and not raised. So it is not a coin.

After reading through some other posts, I am starting to wondering if this was part of someone trying to replicate "errors." I've found a few more that match what is being identified as such in the same batch, fake looking grease strike throughs and clipped War Nickels to be specific. Good thing I paid face value for this. At least I'm learning a lot! :) |
