Here is a page of RPMs. Why is this helpful? When you look at this page you will see that most of these RPMs show the similar die puncheon damage on the lower loop of the mintmark. These are not part of the RPMs. Open the pages and it will tell you the direction of the RPMs. So the punch had damage on it when used. If you look at different denominations for that year, you will see the same thing, until they replace the damaged punch. So even normal mintmarks will show the same punch damage. (again this punch damage has nothing to do with the RPM)
