with JimmyD. The devices are reduced in size. If you see that the device is flat and not rounded like a normal device that is caused by a loose die. After the die strikes the coin it will shift from one side or the other causing this exact appearance. Hope this helps.

Which one is enlarged, your coin or this one:
1970-S-Lincoln-?-DD-Or-MD--Looks-Like-DD-To-Me

Here is another Machine doubled example:
1970-S-Lincoln-?-DD-Or-MD--Looks-Like-DD-To-Me
Note the mintmark? When you see the MD on the date and the mintmark in the same direction, it is Machine Doubling. why?
A doubled die is is hub incorrectly and show the hub doubling often in a direction.
Then the die has the date punched into the die. So when the Machine Doubling on the digits and the mint mark in the same direction, it is almost always Machine Doubling. (I know of none that break that rule, but eventually someone will find one, because rules are meant to be broken)
