Hello experts , and also non-experts(me). I have collected (hunted, mined, roll grazing) for many years and only recently (several years started to focus on errors, because simply I like finding them. I have beenm fortunate enough to find the 1969 no FG (twice) and though I do not think it is an error I have 2 1970 S small dates Lincolns and other unique finds I wont list. As I have learned the most of the error (one offs) or not yet given the nod by the top tier, do not bring the value of the certified/identified errors and varieties And I have learned from here that even if it s a one-off it has to be pretty spectacular to have more than face value.

AS mentioned I hunt my coins I never(rarely) buy a coin - I have as gifts for family members and I do buy junk silver, but I do not purchase But I loved this nickel and I traded a very pristine proof like 1943 Steel Lincoln for it I know the value of the Lincoln but had no idea of the nickel. Please tell me did I win, lose or draw LOL

Thank you so much.

A picture of the reverse would help.

Looks to be slightly off-center .... worth a couple of bucks I would think.

Nice find!

@axsprog, very nice to see the tops of the letters starting to fall off the edge of the coin. We need a pic of the other side of the coin too please. Thx.

A photo of the reverse is required to determine the type of error. It's either slightly off-center or a mis-aligned obverse die (MAD).

Worth more than face value either way - but not by much.

It is the type to save of MAD coins as some of the devices are falling over the edge of the coin:

Not as valuable as an off center though. If the reverse is normal, then it is not an off center. (Mad reverses have the normal reverses on them) So an image of the reverse would be helpful. If you traded with a reprocessed steel cent, you got the better end of the deal. (The other guy got robbed)
There were no Proof Steel cents. People replated them and they are just a face value coin when altered. (but still a Wheat cent) But worth nothing to a true collector. How can you tell if it was replated?

Note the top image. The surface should not be shiny. The bottom one was re-processed/re-plated.
