Hi, everyone!

I have this old 100$ bill that my grandfather found in an old book of his a couple of days ago. As you can see in the picture the bill is a little torn, but I wanted to know if you think that I could sell this online for more than its face value.

What are your thoughts?

Thank you!

I doubt you'll get $100 for it if you sell it. It's just a regular $100. Spend it before it breaks apart and you have to use tape to hold it together.

I believe the note is not genuine.

The serial numbers on series 1988 $100 FRN's never even got to the A-B block, let alone the A-C block.

Thank you for your comments. Actually,I took it to my bank first to ask them if the bill was still valid and they told me yes and that in fact they would take it without a problem. I was just waiting to see if I can get more for it if I sell it online XD

I would never have thought to check that.
But I just looked it up and, yep, you're correct.

Pretty good looking counterfeit. It either fooled a lot of people and circulated, or it was intentionally circulated to make it look old and used.

I'm guessing it spent a good bit of time folded up in someone's wallet. Coming out and unfolded occasionally to show off. The paper used probably doesn't have the wear characteristics of the security paper used by the BEP and is easily torn especially along the folds.

Good points, Steve. Also, hard to tell from the photos but I also can't/don't see the red & blue linen fibers.
