Please provide grading opinions on this 1917S Mercury dime. I'd also appreciate comments on whether this meets FSB criteria. I'm trying to learn coin photography with artificial light after mostly shooting in indirect sunlight.   *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. *** |

I'm thinking 64 FSB.
Probably dipped once and that's where the scratches came from. They will hold it back from a higher grade.
All-in-all, it is still a nice looking coin!

MS-64 FB, great luster. I don't think the hairlines on the neck would be enough to detail it.

The high points are somewhat worn at the wing and hair, strike is suppose be strong for the year, obverse has 2 minor nicks under cheek and neck with minor rub.
MS-64 FSB from this photo, but weak and may deter 3rd party from assigning a FB designation.

I'm in the group that the coin may have been cleaned due to those hairlines especially visible across the neck area. the coin is just to bright and not in a blast white way. they don't die polish the relief. MS64 probably makes FSB. chance it would details for cleaning/polish

You might want to consider getting this one graded. Bid for a 65 (no FB) is about $400. That jumps up to $990 if it comes back full bands.
