Edit to add: I did check variety Vista. No match. But I know different ones can be discovered. Maybe just MD?

I agree with Machine Doubling. Some may wonder how could a mintmark get affected in that area. Most of the time of the mintmark is punched deeper into the die, it rises a bit above the other designs in that area. It maybe have been a strong MD which I call push doubling that affected the coin when it was newer, before the devices were worn down. Thus why it looks a bit wider? MD
