It does look like a Rim Fin.

But the fin is flattened. Removing the value of the coin.

The fin has been flattened, but even if it wasn't there would be little if any premium.

If the fin on a coin is flattened is that done by the mint or by circulation?

Most likely circulation.

A full obverse and reverse image might aid more to justify if it just another misaligned die strike or maybe something more.

All I see is the current image indicates a misaligned die strike. Nothing more at this point. Thanks, Doug.

I'm thinking the tilted die issue is part of the the Machine Doubling issue. The machine is sloppy floppy with the MD, allowing the slight amount of die tilting. In order to prove this, we need to compare OBW rolls of coins, with Machine Doubling, as see if the fins are present. If the tilting is random like the MD, then it maybe the cause of the die tilt examples. Random affected areas, with MD examples in the same batch. That would prove a connection between the two issues. Now we need to see if the theory holds water?
