Quote: I wouldn't want to sell a $500 coin for $50 because someone on here knew the value and "cherry picked" the coin. I also wouldn't want to get ripped off by buying a fake coin/ bill. No one wants this, including me. I'm actually surprised by this, coming from you @hfjacinto, after seeing you value the OP's note at $10 (face value) earlier in the thread. The note is valued at multiple times face even in circulated condition.

Steve that is my value for that bill. I would give him no more than $10 . And I never said you would do any of the following. I just said that the reason that the buying and selling rules are what they are because of trying to keep people safe.

hfjacinto, generally when some one asks for a value, they want a rough fair market value, not what any particular member who doesn't collect that type of item would pay. Telling a new member with legitimate questions "well, I'ld only pay x" is doing them and the forum a disservice. That's not what they asked. That's going to discourage them from collecting and participating. There are many people on here who collect things that I don't care about at all and would never pay over face value for. Doesn't mean I'm going to jump on every thread and say "It's only worth face (to me).

Before I commented, I checked several websites and called my local coin dealer. He said that while low Star Notes have value the value is based on condition, he would not pay a premium for this bill. So I agreed with the dealer. Now if someone wants to offer the OP more money than what I feel and my local dealer feel it is worth, than go ahead. To me this a regular face value note. People on ebay overpay for thousands of items, I'm not going to stop anyone from valuing something for more than I feel its worth.

From what I have read, neither of those notes are "low SN". The OP's not is nowhere near the "crisp" condition that the one SteveInTampa posted. All that factors in. John1

The condition of the OPs bill is in much worse shape than what was presented and the serial number is much higher.

Neither note has what I would consider a low serial number. I believe if the OP's note was scanned, instead of photographed, it would look much nicer. Check back in two weeks and decide for yourself.

I think I know what happens in two weeks. Trust him, it will be a better picture if it's what I'm thinking. I could be wrong.

Quote: please elaborate, thanks It's the OP's note posted as an edited (size) scan, instead of the original picture posted. It's just a better photo, no big deal.
