Found today on my hunts a PCGS au55 unattributed VAM 6 next to a raw 1880 "au" VAM 6. $80 raw $90 PCGS unattributed. Book value is $300 in au50 could the PCGS be sold as a vam6 unattributed for more. Do either grade higher possibly by your expert opinions.

Thank everyone in advance for any input personally like the raw one more the overdate is more dramatic to me. Definitely an obvious VAM once seen.

Just kills me how 42 people can view a post on a forum specifically for vams and not one can leave any sort of reply opinion or answer to any of my questions better off doing what is so often suggested and just run any questions I have past ebay sold values. The members of this forum contain knowledge beyond comprehension but I feel like Ponce De leon everytime I post.

Looks good to me. The rear hair polished away confirmed it.

I'll chime in as I just saw this for the first time. You got the VAM correct no doubt it's the VAM6 (raw) not the easiest VAM to uncover these days. I found a few early on and sure wish I sold them at the time ($250-350+) back in the early/mid 2000's. Now that more have surfaced the price has fallen off to a more modest range on EF-AU coins. As to the PCGS coin? I can't tell the VAM from the photos.

This is a coin I'd buy everytime I cherrypick it as long as it's going for no premium over the date. Love an overdate coin, but I love more weird varieties like DDOs, RPDs, etc. also errors. This is a nice example that is not hard to see the variety at all, meaning no loupe needed.

I like the raw coin a lot more. Though slabbed coins sell much faster in my experience (if your selling that is). I hate submitting as there is little room to make any profit, but if you can buy a slabbed coin at the right price then I suppose I'd want that one. I am slowing selling off many of my VAMs I still look for them, but the thrill of the hunt has changed to other series for me personally. I guess which coin to pick would depend on why you are buying it. For a collection or to flip and or upgrade?
