I'll chime in as I just saw this for the first time. You got the
VAM correct no doubt it's the VAM6 (raw) not the easiest
VAM to uncover these days. I found a few early on and sure wish I sold them at the time ($250-350+) back in the early/mid 2000's. Now that more have surfaced the price has fallen off to a more modest range on EF-AU coins. As to the PCGS coin? I can't tell the
VAM from the photos.
This is a coin I'd buy everytime I cherrypick it as long as it's going for no premium over the date. Love an overdate coin, but I love more weird varieties like DDOs, RPDs, etc. also errors. This is a nice example that is not hard to see the variety at all, meaning no loupe needed.
I like the raw coin a lot more. Though slabbed coins sell much faster in my experience (if your selling that is). I hate submitting as there is little room to make any profit, but if you can buy a slabbed coin at the right price then I suppose I'd want that one. I am slowing selling off many of my VAMs I still look for them, but the thrill of the hunt has changed to other series for me personally. I guess which coin to pick would depend on why you are buying it. For a collection or to flip and or upgrade?
