Quote: My guess is the folder was made before 1965 Lots of those folders planned ahead adding future years. They didn't know there would be no Denver mint marked Lincoln Cents in 1965, 1966 and 1967. There were coins minted in Denver but they didn't have a mint mark. (From a search on USmint.gov) The coinage Act of 1965 prohibited mint marks for five years. This, together with the date freeze, eliminated distinguishing features that could tempt people to remove the coins from circulation while the Mint was striving to meet the country's need for coins. no mint marks appear on coins dated 1965, 1966, and 1967. Congress authorized resumption of the practice in 1968, at which time the mint marks, which previously appeared on the back of the coins, were permanently relocated to the front.

Yup, it is the same reason why you can find albums and folders without places for things like Westward Journey nickels of the Lincoln Bicentennial cents.

You reminded me of my Great Aunt Tootsie whose Jefferson nickel folder was blank except for the year 1938. She would write in all the dates herself. Well, when 1955 came along she became upset that she could not find a 1955-S. Every time she visited my family she would ask "Matthew, why can't I find a 1955-s nickel?" And every time I would rely "They didn't make a 1955-s nickel!" Memories......

I guarantee there are no pages with W slots for pennies for 2019 published before 2019 or any for the W nickel for this year. My dads old Whitman half dollar album only had up to like 69 then they were blank.

If you find a 1965-D to fill that hole let the rest of us know where you got it. That would be a find! (or fake)

All kinds of things like that with those Whitman Folders. I had one with a slot for the 1913 Liberty Head Nickel. Many do not have a place for all the different 2009 Cents. The publishers are not sure what to do for the future so they just take chances. I'm still looking for one for my 1915 Mercury dime.
