I am new here and in search of some information. I have been coin roll hunting for a little over a year and just last night found a very unusual nickel. I have been told that it was PMD, but I am finding it difficult to explain how the chin on this nickel appears to be flipped and reattached to the coin after the mint. Does anyone have an opinion? I may look to get this graded if the value warrants doing so. Thanks in advance for any advice!

to CCF. Need to see the other side also. As of now it looks like PMD. To warrant slabbing,a coin needs a retail value of at least $150 after being slabbed to justify all costs involved.

@aith1, first welcome to CCF. Second, my initial impression is that your nickel is damaged (not a mint error). I agree that having a photo of the reverse side of the coin could help.

I agree. Both sides of the coin would help. Jbuck I'm new to the Community I have a question. When a coin gets moved to the appropriate forum. As a newbie how do we find out where it went? If Jbuck isn't able to read this could maybe someone else help? Thank you.

Hopefully, it is moved to the correct place within CCF. If you are the OP, you should get a notice of where it went. If you are a previous responder, then you could look to your own previous comments to track it down. Otherwise, you will need to use the CCF search function in the upper left hand corner of your screen. Facilitating searches is one reason why we try to be fastidious about including the date, mintmark, and denomination in all thread titles.

You can see the damage in the same area on the reverse. I say PMD, not an error.

I don't know enough about errors to say but the reverse picture will get you the correct info from a more knowledgable member or three. Thanks for posting it.
I am interested in the answer as well.
