Hi, first time posting in this forum. I mostly collect coins, so I don't know much about paper money. Decided to buy a brick of 2017 one dollar bills from the bank. I received a full brick (I think) of star notes. While the star note run is not rare (3.2M run), the numbers seem interesting. The top note of the brick in K02500001, so I think the last one is likely K02501000. What fancy numbers should I expect to find. Also, in terms of value, should I just keep this as a shrink-wrapped brick, break it up into straps, individual notes, etc. Anything else I should consider? In any case, I'm pretty excited about it. Thanks for the help!

Radar/Star note 02500520 should be in there I guess.

I think the full straps of Star Notes are denoted with the candy strip border on the ribbon around each pack of 100, like on the first pack in your picture. From the picture, it looks like the other packs have a solid border which would not be Star notes. I could be wrong, it's hard to tell from the current picture, and I could be wrong because I'm new and have never obtained a full brick before myself. No matter what, it's really cool that you have a full brick of beautiful notes. Ok, I may be weird, but I like the smell of a fresh pack of uncirculated notes. Congratulations on your acquisition! Looking forward to your future posts of what you find when you open it. to the CCF!

I don't know much about this at all, but now there could be just about anything in there except bundles of $100 dollar bills. I'd have to open it and have some small size currency holders ready.

Thanks for the comments. SnoopyDoo, you are correct that only the first strap has a candy stripe border, the rest are solid. Very interesting about the strap colors. So, it's possible that only the first strap is star notes? I did not know that! So, does that mean that each strap may also not be consecutive?
I am really wanting to take these out of the shrink wrap, but I want to make sure I'm not hurting the value by keeping it all together in a single brick. Anyone have any opinions on that? Sounds like there are a lot of unknowns without breaking it out of the plastic, correct?

Removing the plastic should not hurt any potential value. The notes will be consecutive within each pack except when the BEP slips in a couple of replacement notes to cover damaged notes. It's hit or miss with those, but typically the rarer star notes come in pairs and not packs of 100. Open it up and get back to us about what you have please.

SnoopyDoo was absolutely right. Only the top strap contained the star notes from Kansas City. The other straps were all consecutive from Cleveland starting with the number shown in the pic. Oh well, still pretty neat to get a strap of star notes. Not sure if there is anything particularly interesting in the rest. I don't think there are any true fancy numbers, although in the star strap I do have 02500025. Not really fancy, but I think kind of neat. Please let me know if you think there is anything else that might be interesting. I'll have to see if it is worth trying to identify a particularly clean, nice note for grading. I'll have to learn about that. Thanks again for the comments from the community!

I would carefully examine the other nine packs for hidden replacement notes. Most of the time they are at the very end of each pack. You never know what you'll find.
