They've got in the wrong section.
It is a coin or perhaps test token.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

I do have a question: What is the origin of this coin?
I find it very unusual. Having both denomination and queens portrait makes it a legal coin, not a token.
Also, the normal 2006 test token has 3 ribbons on reverse and no queen on obverse.

Send it to PCGS, get it dual slab with the issue coin, most likely a test token or coin.

Don't send it to PCGS, who knows whatthey will call it.
Send it to ICCS with your backstory so it can be correctly attributed and appear in future catalogues.
It is a coin and not exonumia, the first thing you should do is contact coinsandcanada and have them list it in a more appropriate section.

I can ask coins and Canada to list it somewhere else but I guess it's up to him as it's his website. What would ICCS label it without confirming its origin? I know where it's from but not many others do.
I do know it was a pattern test piece. There are to my knowledge only 2 that survived the lab testing they underwent.

If you get a chance to meet Sandy Campbell of Proof Positive coins at major shows he is a PCGS dealer if he get's interested in this coin with some background info it will get slab as a pattern test token, dual slab it the original issue coin and your off to the races. The beaded toonies, the recent fish, flag, 1234 tokens from the Vancouver money show are in PCGS pattern test token registry.

Not the first time I have seen that. In fact, I saw one back in 2013 and another in 2015. I suspect they are patterns or trial pieces. Not sure if one has come up to auction. If I do ever get my hands on one, no doubt, I will document it properly and get it added to the Charlton Catalogue - then, I would put it in PCGS holder. Quote:

I'm an old fashioned traditionalist and as second rate as our Canadian numismatic institutions are I would still give them first kick at the cat.
I rue the day when PCGS or some other US entity becomes the de facto primary cataloguer of Canadian coins.
We have already allowed them to undermine the traditional grading of Canadian circulated coins.
I have no desire to slab any coins I intend on keeping in my collection.
I only submit coins which I am about to sell if it's advantageous.

I live in the US so PCGS could be an option but what proof would they require in order to Slab the coin with a pattern/trial designation?

So I would need to find someone from the Mint to vouch this is a real coin.The photos are out there so if anyone has a connection at the mint who verifies this type of thing please let me know!

Just buzz the RCM a letter, they sometimes are really helpful but most of the time they are not very helpful on simple questions regarding mintage figures. My first advice of contacting Sandy Campbell will be your best bet, he is at most large US shows or just contact PCGS |
