Hello everyone, I'm new to the site. This is my first post. I certainly welcome any advice, corrections, and most of all your knowledge.
Lately I have noticed a lot of brilliant looking coins. Usually quarters and dimes. The dates are sometimes 15 years prior. The edges have a bright copper color.
Not sure how to capture the images with my equipment. Guess that forum is next.

It isn't uncommon to find brilliant uncirculated (BU) examples of such coins in circulation. I often search through rolls of quarters and find my fair share of such pieces, some almost 20 years old. Keep in mind, particularly with the State Quarters, that many were hoarded for the longest time before being released back into circulation, hence the striking quality.

These are circulated coins. Pocket change. At first I thought the 2005 Kansas was a SMS, but then I thought maybe I just never noticed before. That would not be like me not to notice. Researched a little on how to spot a SMS. Back to the microscope.

Side question:
What do coin graders use to view coins?

While searching quarter boxes for W minted quarters, I am seeing/finding a lot of UNC/AU State Quarters and ATB(1999 to present) My thought is that people saved them in folders or other means thinking they would hold additional value and have now spent them for some reason or another

Not uncommon at all--in my experience anyway, particularly with dimes. I come across many BU-like clad coins from the early to mid 2000s.

I find good things always around christmas. Also when economic times get hard.

I think it has a lot to do with people and change jars. Nobody thinks about them really and just pitch their coins in there.

Maybe close to Christmas money gets tight and they say"ohh that change jar!" And cash it in. Sometimes the jar is a 5 gallon water bottle and it sits there collecting coins for a decade or more and then they dump it finally because money is tight. That happened in 2009-2012 quite a lot during the recession.

With State Quarters people held on to them. A lot of people but 10 years later they come across them and say "what's it worth?" Oh about the same? Guess I'll stick it in the bank."

Then there's jerk collection robberies that go to coinstar and such also along the way.
It's just change to a jerk.if it's not gold or silver.

Lots of reasons for it happening but the change jar or setting aside something then deciding it wasn't worth it is usually what happens.
