I'm working on selling several coins that my wife and I inherited from her uncle's estate. Thanks in advance for your responses! Brian

First question I have is that we have 4 uncirculated $25 rolls of 1979 Susan B Anthony dollars. ebay research shows me that they're not worth much more than face value. Although individual dollars appear to be worth quite a bit more. Is it worth opening up these rolls and selling individually? Are there differences between 1979 dollars?

For starters, here's a peek into the world of SBA dollars: https://www.PCGS.com/prices/detail/.../most-active

Others will chime in.

The wholesale price on these is pretty high but selling them for wholesale is pretty tough. If you had 100 rolls it would be easy enough.

I'd go through and look for well made examples with a bare minimum of scratching. Save these and maybe take pictures. Your odds are very poor.

There is a variety with the date closer to the rim. You'll probably either have none of these or eight or ten. They can probably be sold on ebay for 10 or $20 each. They could even all be near dates. Google pictures if you aren't sure.

Any that aren't high grade or varieties are probably best taken to the bank.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Welcome to CCF and I'm very sorry for your loss. One nice thing about inheriting something like this is that you get a nice glimpse into a slice of your wife's uncle's life.

Regarding the SBA's, I would be surprised if you get much over face for them. If they aren't pristine or the kind that cladking mentioned, you may as well just keep them in your car and pay for coffee or girl scout cookies with them or hand them out at the corner. You'll get some interesting looks.

Photos will greatly help. Looking forward to hearing what else you inherited.

Not going to be easy to sell those and right now, due to that virus stuff, even more difficult.

Thanks for the welcomes! Uncle John was quite an eclectic collector who also had a personal museum in McHenry, North Dakota. Over the years, we have sold a lot of train memorabilia among other things. Now I'm focusing on the many coins and tokens he had. Are there any free online coin catalogs out there for mostly foreign coins? A lot of research ahead!
