Hi I just got this 1818 Half Dollar but I don't have much experience with early American coins. It weighed half a gram under the reference weight. And the stars seem a bit uneven and slightly different from some that I've seen on other examples. Is it just wear? A few almost look uneven and skinny like asterisks.Regarding the edge lettering I can only make out "A DOLLAR" the rest looks smooth. Is this coin genuine?
Thanks!

Looks genuine to me. The weight is probably acceptable for the amount of wear. Looks like a solid VG example with nice circulation cameo.

A genuine half dollar with great eye appeal having a circulated cameo look.

It looks genuine to me and is a nice example. So many of these are cleaned and polished. The uneven strike is also common especially the eagle's wing of your coin.

Not bad for 201 years old. Looks like an O-12 but can't see or make out any die cracks for a specific number.

Your coin is genuine. The lower weight is from wear. Nice VG-8 coin.

Certainly genuine. Love the circ look. I would grade it G06 or VG08 depending if any hairline or scratches

A bit difficult to attribute because of the wear but my guess is O-113. Nice example.
