Below, I have two notes with interesting scenarios going on and I would love some help with these.
As the $50: The half ring of ink. I looked at it closely and it seems to be the exact same shade of blue as used on the bill in other places. Can anyone please help?
As for the $1: Pretty cool uneven serial number at the end (3,7, & B).
Thank you all for your help...stay safe and respect social distancing.
the half arc, is a teller stamp, that was placed over a bank strap, that is why only a portion of it is visible. As for the misaligned digit, it is not enough to be worth any more than face value..
it is just the way the digits turn on the stamp, when you get a stuck digit that only partially turns, so only a portion of the number shows up then you have a error, those carry a premium..
The blue inking arch on the $50 is post-BEP and the turned digit / stuck digit happens occasionally with the new LEPE overprint equipment. The left and right serial numbers are printed separately, because the new computerized numbering blocks are so large that they can't be crammed together close enough to print all the serial numbers on a sheet in one pass. The minor occurrence on the OP's note isn't significant enough to have a premium.
Awesome information gang...thank you much! I must say, I do find it unfortunate that is doesn't have a premium due to the fact that this is the first uneven serial number I have ever seen in the 100's of notes I've been through.
