Capped Bust Dime You Vs NGC

I always grade in the British grading system first, to give me a reliable guide into the Sheldon grades.

I am only so-so about the patina; would have preferred an even light gray.
At least, the patina on the high points of the design has't been disturbed for a very long time, and also the color that would have been visually effective over all of the coin.

in this case, the equivalent Sheldon grade is
EF-45.

I'll say AU-58. Beauty.

I compared this coin to photograde and this one has a lot of visual appeal. I would grade it AU 53, because of the wear around the tresses of hair. The toning is very nice and it has a really strong reverse. I don't have it in hand, so it may be graded higher (It could go to AU 55).

BUT to me, this is an example of the grade mattering less than its visual appeal. This is a coin that I think is prettier than some higher grade coins. Visually its stunning. If you purchased it, I think this was a good pick.

I'll go MS-63

I was going to guess MS-62 before I saw the actual grade. Nice one! I'm a fan of the color.

Wonderful coin, exact grade aside.
