What kind of error is this type of damage known as - and are their any monetary benefits . The obverse of this 2004 D Cent has a piece dug off below the earlobe and stuck on the chin - wereas the reverse exhibits digging off the left pillar upper portion and getting struck underneath the right pillar.
I agree with Zinc rots. On the Chin and on reverse on Bay#3 has burst open and on Bay #9 beneath the planter is developing.As mentioned, it is a very common on today's Zincolns, it is safe to spend it.
Probably will not press down. Note the gray circle in the middle of that area. That tells me the plating was split in a straight pin, and now is rising as the oxygen affects the zinc underneath:
