I guess I like many others started collecting with these coins. I remember my father bought me an old money tin full up with them for £5 when I was about 8 years old from a boy at school. Many of them were so worn the date wasn't readable but it started me off. There are lots of varieties to look out for too, I can't say I am any particular expert on identifying them but there are a few to look out for... My spread sheet shows the ones I have and the mintages, it also notes a few of the rare varieties to look out for so I will copy and paste here.

I note the set is not nearly complete, I ended up with a carrier bag full of doubles... not sure where they got to. I never actively chased these down though, just scrounged them from grandparents etc.
