1964 D DDR Washington Quarter

I only suspected this to be a DDR, until my microscope arrived. How are the pics? How can they be improved if any of you can offer any advise when photographing coins. Especially Die varieties and errors. Also, how that '64? Still, getting my feet wet, but this is my favorite find so far.

Looks like classic Machine Doubling to me. The mint marks were punched separately on coins 1989 and earlier, so the fact that the D has the same doubling along with the shelf-like flatness of the doubling gives it away.

MD and maybe early stage DDD. You need to filter the light.

Note the mark on the top of the 'R' below the mintmark? It is showing the same MD there. So all that you are seeing on your coin is machine movement created. On a RPM or doubled die, these are on the die. Not created by the machine. And can have MD on a doubled die if the machine creates this.
