I bought this coin from a dealer in Texas a few years ago.I purchased it as a normal piece for $150 as a raw MS63. The flip it came in indicated that this coin was in an ANACS holder at one time. The dealer, did not indicate in the coins desription that it was a repunched date.Any ideas as to why the slab was broken, and does the coin match the grade?

Nice coin. MS-63 tops due to weak strike on reverse

Agree that MS-63 sounds about right. People crack slabs for all sorts of reasons - some just plain don't like 'em.

Certainly looks like a re-punched date to me - do not have the series expertise to suggest the possible earlier date.

MS63. Typical C3N issues.

Thanks for all the feedback. Yes, the coin has the typical die clashing and die cracks, as well as a weak strike, especially on the reverse. It does have a rim Cud between the 10 and 11 o'clock position on the reverse. This obverse die is known paired with 3 different reverse dies and carries only a modest premium due to its availability.
