I'm Guessing, 1967 Proof Lincoln Penny

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 04/11/2020 8:42 pm There were no proofs that year. 1965-67 had SMS (Special-Mint-Sets) ALso no coins with mintmarks during that time. There was a game of catch up happening during the time. The silver was being pulled from circulation and they were ramping up production to catch up with the silver coins being pulled. SMS and proofs (They are struck at least twice on all coins and the dies are limited to 3K coins) were not grades for business strike coins. Proof coins were struck at least twice. (Some larger coins more) So if a proof coin is damaged, it is always a proof coin. Just referred to as an impaired proof coin. Report this Post to the Staff
