After only getting out detecting five times in all of 2019, I've been trying to have some hunts in 2020.

On Saturday I went out to the town next to where I live in SE Wisconsin. I hunted a wooded area with trails and a small park along a bike path. In the past, this was where the inter-urban trolley line ran.

I had very rare success as I dug up two silver Roosevelt dimes. One was a 1963-D and the other a 1961-D. While the 1961-D came out of the hole looking a beautiful silver color, the 1963-D was gray and toned. The ground had not treated it well because the reverse was pitted and it only weighs 1.79 grams, quite a bit under the normal weight.

This is unusual because normally silver coins around here are not affected by the ground.

I also dug up a 1944-D Wheatie and a 1972-D Kennedy half dollar. It's only the third Kennedy I have found in eight years of detecting.
