*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

Any value to this coin? I have never seen a MM so close to the date before.

Thanks

I have added it this time, but you should include the date, mintmark, and the denomination in your titles.

Why Topic Titles are Important

The title of your topic is very important. Let's say you need help attributing an 1896 Morgan Dollar....

  • Horrendous: Help!

  • Bad: Need help with coin

  • Better: Need help with Morgan Dollar

  • Good: Need help with 1896 Morgan Dollar

  • Awesome: Need help with VAM on 1896 Morgan Dollar

This enables the members with expertise pertaining to your question to easily find and answer your question. The title of the topic also becomes the title of the topic's web page, which enables us to attract more collectors to the site. The more members we have, the more we learn.

Mintmarks were punched in by hand until 1990, so mintmark location will be different and varies on different dies.

E&V nails it. This is an extreme example, and some people collect these.

One sees the same on 1953 S wheat cents.

Those were the days, punching mint marks by hand. Imagine punching a mint mark first thing Monday morning after a weekend-long party.

I'd save this one in a 2x2. Nice find!

It is an angled mintmark. But no premium for that. Just one image more to add to my files.

Yours is image #5. On more and I can make a set of '6' for a page of them.
