Toning looks interesting--most likely due to exposure to 'environmental' agents. I've come across many, many cents just like yours--darkish toning. Report this Post to the Staff

It seems that the post 1982 95% zinc pennies lend themselves to a variety of toning. Not necessarily a premium for this coin with the toning unless it brings some variety to the table. Happy collecting and welcome to the forum. Beside showing obverse and reverse, the edit feature in your camera should allow you to orient the coin by rotating it left or right.
