I haven't been able to find a single thing besides some obverse and reverse design varieties. Do people here just search each coin individually?

You can try to locate some of the old Zoell books/pamphlets, but not on-line. Barring that, the CaC website above has D/D's submitted by members, but many are not truly "doubled", but rather die deteriorations, MD's, etc.

Unless stated otherwise, I have not seen such a site.
The list of people, here on this forum, capable of putting together such a site is very short! (ie. JohnWayne007 and SPP)Let's not forget that most are still working with a magnifying lens and most doubled die are best identified with a digital microscope.
I have worked a bit on setting up 5centscanada.ca website that concentrates on all errors found on nickels, including doubled die, and it is a lot of work. Putting in place strict rules, editing posts, and confirming the errors.
I had started working on cataloguing class IX doubled die (extra claw/fur/log) in the central area on nickels but lack of time and public's general interest, I put it aside a project to do during my retirement!

The best way to find doubled dies on any denomination would be to search each coin individually which to some can be a tedious task if you do not have a starting point (year, denomination ect). As of right now there is very limited resources online regarding genuine doubled dies on Canadian Coins.
To be honest finding online publications regarding genuine Doubled Dies is almost just as hard to find as a Doubled Die itself, I am currently working on a catalogue to aid in this issue we all seem to be running into (those who are interested in finding doubled dies). My catalogue was suppose to be finished by now but I came into a hoard that has shown promising results I have yet to add into it. The coins shown on Coins and Canada for the most part are merely common errors and varieties like okiecoiner has pointed out which is a good site for the minor common things.
Not only am I working on a Catalogue that caters to every denomination from 1937 to present I do in fact have a website in the works that is also going to be finished in the coming months, I have a set goal to be up and running by July and my Catalogue will be released through my site for pre-sales to aid in website fees and will be in other stores later this year (online and in store).
Doubled Dies is a passion for me and the only way our Canadian Doubled Dies will get the attention they deserve is if they all get weeded out of the common errors and varieties that they sometimes get mistaken for and given their own site and publications.

Hi Numidan, There are doubled Dies for the George VI 50c for 1950 ( DDR),1951 (2 DDO), and 1952 (2 DDO). I cannot provide pictures as I lost the coins in a break-in, but fortunately I had provided them to Charlton for his 68th catalogue in the Variety section.

Great to hear, JohnWayne! I have yet to find a Canadian doubled die myself, but I always check the Canadian coins that I get in my rolls here in the US, so I will definitely post here if I'm ever lucky enough to find one. I think it's great that you're working on a website for this, because it seems like the big obstacle keeping doubled dies from being widely collected outside US coins is the lack of documentation on what the doubled die varieties are for other currencies. Hopefully your website will help to create more awareness of these coins in Canada (I've talked to UK coin collectors who seem to think these varieties are something unique to US coins simply because no one documents them in their country. This is certainly not the case, and some of my favorite doubled dies I've seen have been on coins minted outside the US).

There are not many true Double Die varieties. off the top of my head I can think of: 1c - 1881 DDO, 1882 DDO, 1908 DDO, 1909 DDO25c - 1953 DDR, 1955 DDRNFLD 5c - 1880 DDOMost of the popular "double dies" are Machine Doubling (1c 1962, 5c 1962, NFLD 1c 1940, 1941, NFLD 10c 1940, etc).

Quote: There are not many true Double Die varieties. add -> that have been catalogued. Believe me, a lot of Canadian true double die varieties are evaluated as Mechanical Doubling and that is the problem! Just for the 5 cents, I have at least 30 examples (from 1958-2012) of class 8/class 9 doubling. These are not major DD but are true doubled die examples exhibiting some form of extra claw/fur/log belonging to the same category of "Doubled Die Formative Years" US Penny's extra finger/thumb which are sought after. Here in Canada, it has not caught on. What can I say?

I've been keeping track of the few I find on my website: http://crdievarieties.com/doku.php?id=canadaI bought a huge lot of Canadian coins, cent through toonie (But mostly cents), for way less than face value and I only found a few minor ones, mostly doubled claws on the five cents. I'll probably have to recheck them eventually because I've seen a few posted on the forum that I would have missed. 1975 1 Cent - Queen Elizabeth II - Weak spread with notching on ELIZABETH 1960 5 Cents - Queen Elizabeth II - Upper claw NW 1960 5 Cents - Queen Elizabeth II - Lower Claw N 1963 5 Cents - Queen Elizabeth II - Claw far N 1968 5 Cents - Queen Elizabeth II - Claw W (I Found 2) 1979 5 Cents - Queen Elizabeth II - Upper claw N 1986 5 Cents - Queen Elizabeth II - Lower claw N

I had a few minutes and looked through a half roll of mixed date Elizabeth II small cents. I found two 1970's with reverse die doubling on CANADA. It would be easy to miss without a microscope, but it's definitely die doubling. I think I'll look a little more. This could be fun.

Can I assume that all the double, triple and quadruple HP's on the silver dollars considered double dies? I have also seen double HP's on nickels too.
