This is normal - nickels from 1943-1945 were made with an alloy of copper and silver.

You may need to consider wear on both nickels. I think they are from the correct stock.

I'd practice the SG test some more. You will note you got 10.71 for the dime, PURE silver is 10.5 coin silver should be 10.34 The fact you got a specific gravity higher than pure silver tells me you need to work on it some more. Something is throwing it off.
