I have this pretty beat up steel Wheat cent. The uniform curved grooves on the rim/edge made me wonder if this is post mint damage, or maybe a mint error? Probably not worth much either way but just curious about it

After vending machine damage, the next common damage to the edges are coin tosses.

When looking at coins and knowing what new coins look like you have to ask yourself this, what could have happened at the mint for this to have happened. 10 times out of 10, a coin in the same shape as yours will always be post strike damage.

Coin might have spent a tough summer in the bottom of a heavy tool box--say, 1947, Albuquerque.
