On Liberty you are seeing DDD. The Die Deterioration is on the left sides of these devices. DDD affects the fields on the Zincoln cents. (In the direction of the closest rim. So you may see this on both sides of the coin, or on one side if the die marriage was broken and a different die was used as a replacement. That is probably what you are seeing.
