My US Type Set is officially in the Top 100 on the NGC Set Registry Page! Interestingly it's harder to get in the top 100 on NGC then on PCGS as while you need 36000 points on NGC, you only need around 12000 to do it on the PCGS page. Regardless this is a big milestone for me personally.

I started building my type set in July of last year, so to have come so far in a little less than a year feels really good. Heck, I'm only 2 spots behind Hugh Steel who has won over 550 NGC Registry Awards for his collections. He also has 49 Sets that are #1 in category, which is seriously impressive.

I just wanted to share this achievement as it's something I'm very proud of. One thing of note is it's only 40% completed. Though there are coins I won't be going after (1792 Half Disme, 1796 Bust Coins, things of that nature) this just shows how much room my set has to grow.

I've strived to pick as high quality examples as I can find for each type, and pick examples with exceptional strike quality, eye appeal, and minimal marks for their grades. Some of them even have upgrades planned for them at some point in the future.

Anyway this is going on for a while, so here's the link if you want to take a look at it yourself. A few coins are missing images or the existing images suck and need to be replaced, so if any of the CCF members who see this have a good photo rig I'd be more than happy to hire you to photo some of them, just send me a PM!

I had a nice NGC Registry Type Set several years back but then NGC and PCGS had a hissy fit with each other and I couldn't put PCGS coins into the NGC set for points.
So I gave it up and deleted the type set -- and about 10 more sets from NGC.
And of course PCGS won't accept NGC coins.
Finally NGC wouldn't recognize a coin so I gave up the whole idea.

NGC now allows PCGS & NGC coins, though PCGS coins have around a 3 day waiting period.

I know that took a lot of work and a lot of effort. Your results show that. Nicely done! !

My personal preference (when I hear type set) is a 7070, not looking at a stack of slabs. I'd say 1/2 my Dansco have been broken out of slabs over the years.

Again, nicely done!

To each their own. Personally I don't like the album style of presentation in general. I like to be able to see each coin individually and be able to manipulate the coin in anyway I please. You can't do that in an album without taking them out. Plus, IMO luster doesn't show as well in some cases.

Yep, I'm aware of that.
When NGC said they were going to allow PCGS coins again I started recreating my NGC Registry Sets.
But they wouldn't allow a very important coin that I own.
They didn't consider it correctly attributed.
PCGS does and it has an "Eagle Eye" sticker (that means Rick Snow does also).
So I said "nope".

But to their credit IMO NGC has the most complete definition of a 1792-1964 Cu/Ni/Ag Type Set.
That's one of the reasons I originally put the effort in to create my set.
