I don't see enough of these to be able to offer any sort of educated opinion. I'm hoping that smarter folk will weigh in so that I can learn though.

I am going to get Mike Diamond involved, so he can offer an opinion.

Looks like a cracked planchet. Note the Blakesley affect on this one.

So it might be a cracked planchet? If so, then it's not to be confused with a ragged clip.

I have no idea, however I think it's great whatever it is, and it's backstory sure is interesting!

Thank you SilverCents! Ether outcome is fine with me, as long as it's a legitmate error coin (which I think it is).

I'm sure it's legit, just got to wait for the others to speak up. And as you said, maybe Mike Diamond will pitch in.

Yes, it's a ragged clip. It shows the typical lumpy edge texture. As far as the Blakesley Effect is concerned, any gap in a blank's circular outline will generate one. That includes curved (concave) clips, straight clips, ragged clips, broken blanks, pre-strike damage, etc.

Thank you Mike Diamond! Ragged clip it is! The best part about this coin is I got it for free of charge, as part of the refund. The seller refunded my money, plus sent free coins as well, this was one of them.
