Very nice example showing the devices of the motto partially missing.

One of the best misaligned dies I've seen posted here. Nice find! Usually misaligned dies don't carry a premium, but when parts of the design are missing they do. Note that you can tell the difference between a misaligned die and an off-center strike because only one side will be off-center on a MAD, as opposed to both sides on a true off center strike. Unlike an offcenter strike, which must be broad struck (i.e. struck without the collar die that retains the coin to prevent it from expanding under the force of the strike), a MAD can take place in the collar or out.
