1889-P Morgan W/ Die Chip - VAM 18 Or 18A Or ...?

This would seem to be either a VAM 18 or 18A, but I'm not seeing the ear doubling. Are there other diagnostics I'm missing? Is there another VAM that has the die chip? I agree that the chip on my 1889-P doesn't seem to be exactly correct, but it is definitely a chip and not a scratch. I'm trying to see the ear doubling or some other diagnostics that confirm or deny that it's an 18A. I just can't detect the ear doubling. Any help is appreciated. Report this Post to the Staff
Zurie Pillar of the Community United States 5669 Posts	Posted 06/30/2020 09:20 am Sharper pictures may help, but I think that is the correct die chip for 18/18A, and the date position looks right. Hard to tell about ear doubling from the photos. Report this Post to the Staff

I know that the images still are not very clear due to shooting thru the stupid slab. I just can't see the doubling on the ear even with a loop and eyeglasses. Can either of you?
