Due to the completely disproportionate government response to COVID-19 our local coin club has been unable to meet for 4 months. Our biggest local coin shop has only recently re-opened and they no longer allow customers to sort through their bulk silver coins. That was my primary source for generic silver so I'm not buying much of that for the time being. Finally, coin shows have of course been canceled up and down the state (CA). As a result my coin buying has pretty much dropped to nothing.

However, there are online dealers out there who offer good photos of interesting coins and are sometimes willing to dicker over price. I just got this eagle and I'm pretty happy with it. It's the first-year issue from the San Francisco mint. It has moderate scuffs and contact marks consistent with the assigned PCGS grade and surfaces look original to me. What are your thoughts about grade and quality?

XF40 in my opinion. Looks like the "S" mintmark is upside down, too.

Nice coin!

EF-45 but I think the rim damage and reverse scrape will "details" this one.

PCGS did not see significant damage and I agree with that assessment. In-hand the rim ding is tiny and unobtrusive, the edge reeds are intact, and the mark below the eagle's claw is very minor. Overall I'm pleased with this coin and think the eye appeal is excellent. Could be I'm biased....

Jaobler, can you post a reverse photo in the slab? Overall a nice coin especially being mint marked. But to me still "details", those rim bumps look pretty severe.

Thanks Jaobler, I thought the bumps might not look as bad seeing it in the complete holder.
