hard to make out any scratches, I could see reverse as proof like but on the fence on the obverse. This year from San Francisco is known for its very nice strikes.

typical strong strike for this year but the breast could be a tad sharper. it's very difficult to determine PL designations from a photo. based on these photos the surface preservation is excellent. its difficult to determine luster breaks but the eye appeal appears above average. I think it close enough to MS65 but cant comment on designation

Nice MS-65 but too hard to tell from these photos if PL or not.

I'm at MS-65, maybe 65+. It's at least SPL. It's impossible to determine reflectivity from these photos, but it is an eye-catcher. I wonder how it looks in hand.

If you want to buy a 1880 S PL online, get it in a NGC or PCGS holder. Trying to tell depth of mirrors from photos is near impossible. The 80S is common in PL. You can get a great example that is MS64 PL that looks DMPL for an affordable price.

That seller didn't do himself/herself any favors with the last set of photos.
Up until a few months ago - when dinosaurs roamed and we still had coin shows - my wife allowed me to come home from most shows with a couple new 1880-S/1881-S/1882-S/1881-O/1882-O/1883-O PLs or DMPLs. She (falsely, of course) accused me of trying to collect all of them, but she allowed that indulgence because they are inexpensive and beautiful. I fully understand the appeal of these coins. That's a long way of saying that the first photos showed a nice coin, and I doubt the coin looks like the second photos. Being able to see the coin in hand is crucial. Our new era of nothing but virtual purchases takes the fun out of those "wow!" moments on bourse floors, followed by the inevitable horse-trading and farmer's market haggling. I miss that.

Technically MS-65 but it has obviously been dipped so I'll net it down to MS-64. Doesn't seem PL. Might get details at a TPG so be careful with this purchase.
