1945 P Nickel. Pitting In The "U" Of Trust? Damage Or Something Else?

I'm not sure if this is damage or something else.

It appears to have a piece missing out of in the coin on the "U" in trust. The "U" is still there though. Maybe something struck it in circulation and dented it in?

Just wanna make sure it's nothing and not something.

I don't own a microscope or a camera so I took the best photos I could with my phone.

Looks to me like a flaw in the planchet before striking .
