My first thought was a possible dropped letter but I'm not a expert. It's probably a Pareidolia.

I'm also a bit unsure on this one. The phantom R is a bit bigger and thicker than the struck R in PLURIBUS. I didn't scale either one in the side-by-side comparison below:

"The danger we all now face is distinguishing between what is authentic and what is performed." -----King Adz

I think it's a true dropped letter. Interesting coin!
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

I think it could be a strikethrough, I think the shape is a coincidence. I don't think it is a dropped letter.

To me it looks like a Dropped FAKE. That R is way to big to be a dropped letter. Coin Doctor hard at work to make some money. But I am NOT always right. You will have to send it in to see if its the real deal on this one. Fingers crossed I Hope it is real.

I don't feel it's a dropped letter. Perhaps a clash encounter, either deliberate or accidental. Either way, not worth throwing a fuss over it.

So I have been studying up on dropped letters (very interesting how it happens) and I'm wondering if the harder steel (as opposed to copper/gold/clad) coin would affect how the imprint looks. Also, if I were to decide to send it in to see either way, which TPG would you recommended for this? Thanks for your help and opinions.

ANACS. No sense losing a lot of money if it's not legit.

You could be right about the steel cent being harder making it look a little different.

Interesting form of strike through, I must say, that I wasn't aware of. So no matter which way, I'm glad I saw this post.
