I mean come on while this coin is sought after by collectors, it isn't particularly rare and this example is just awful. Not only wouldn't I want to own it I wouldn't want to even spend this one for fear of contaging other coins.

Seller is under a mistaken opinion as to what the real value is in the market.
Probably quite honestly thinks the asking price is quite OK.
Pawnshop owners are very used to meeting such folks.

The seller started with $29.99 as an opening bid. The bidders seem to think it's a great coin. I don't see it myself.

The starting bid was reasonable, in my opinion, perhaps 3% of an undamaged coin. As the key date of the series, it has some value, even as a cull. I would agree that now it is way over-priced.

The optimistic winner , will have better than a bottle of Verdi care for this coin.
Agreed we will see this coin again , much improved .
