My first post over on this part of the forum ...

I am participating for the first time in a Noble auction this week. One of the lots in the World Coins part of the auction that interests me (sorry! not Australian) is from the Jim Duncan Collection.

A quick Google search turns up a Jim Duncan from Auckland, NZ who is active in Numismatics.

In the event I win a coin from this collection, I am curious if anyone knows more about Mr. Duncan and his collection.

I hadn't heard of him but I imagine it will get a write-up in the local coin magazine soon enough.

Thanks for the comments.
What is a little strange is that the lot I was looking at was attributed to the Jim Duncan collection, but also to a 2007 Noble auction where it last sold (also as "from the Jim Duncan collection."
Not that I am hung up on provenance, but I assume that means it left that collection in 2007, and (probably) has been with one other owner since.

Jim Duncan is the President of the Auckland Numismatic society and edits the newsletter/magazine - Mintmark. I am a member of the society. This year we have only met in Feb, Mar and July due to the Hubei Horror. The August meeting was scheduled on the same day NZ launched back into lockdown.

He is very much alive and well, very friendly guy.

@princetane, thanks very much for that info.
Next time you see him, please let him know that an American guy who is assembling a collection of early dated coins from Low Countries with modest means was very happy to win a 1474 Flanders briquet which used to be in his collection, at the recent Noble auction.
If there is anything else about earlier provenance of this coin to share, it would be a wonderful addition.
