Since the doubling only shows when tilted the one direction I go with the lighting crowd. And if there were doubling as good as what appears in that one (and only one) picture of yours, it would be evident in all the latest pictures you posted.
The one good 1972 DDO FS101 is not hard to tell at all when you have one. Plus the notching on the U is on the upper left, not upper right:
The other DDOs for this date are not near as apparent to the naked eye.
