Hi, I'm new to the community, and relatively new to collecting (other than wheat pennies).

In researching States quarters and ATB Quarters, I've become confused. Are only the proofs made with 90% silver?

It seems like there are some in circulation that worth more than face value. Error coins, for sure, but also some in circulation with silver content?

to CCF. Proofs are 90% silver. There are also silver plated ones done after a clad coin leaves the mint by private companies to pray on the grandparents and the uninformed. They are plated in silver, gold and platinum.

Only some proofs are silver (appropriately called silver proofs), some proofs are made with the same clad composition as the quarters struck for circulation.

The silver proof coins usually come in sets and will have a S mint mark.
