Hello! This is an 1890 Indian cent I bought about 20 years ago--I think it is RB, although I am not sure how well that came out in these photos. I think it is an uncirculated coin, but I am wondering if it would get detailed for being cleaned. The obverse has a natural seeming luster--the reverse looks clean, but not as lustrous. One local dealer thought the obverse was MS(64) and the reverse was Unc Details--cleaned. I am curious what your thoughts are!

I'll say unc details (probably cleaned, environmental damage). Can't see this in a straight holder.

unc details. Luster is very flat, old cleaning.

To me it looks like the reverse was in a coin folder for a long time,so maybe not cleaned?

I can't see someone going to the trouble of cleaning one side and not the other...? Whizzing used to be the preferred method of cleaning these (have a few examples)...but there no sign of that here. Most dipped copper turns a pinkish color that's not apparent here...so I don't know about the cleaned part? My first thought was like John1 mentioned...foldered for a long time?
Not sure if sending her off for conservation will help and then graded...looks like she has potential?
conserved and gussy'd up I'm guessing MS63 may 64...just not sure it's worth it?
Let us know what you decide...

Seems to have some light environmental issues. Might get a straight AU grade but I don't see this in an MS holder and, as others have mention, good chance it comes back details.

AU58 for me, and details. Does appear cleaned at one point, perhaps then spending a good long while in a folder were the reverse took on a somewhat different look than the obverse. I've see this with older wheat cents.

MS details, cleaned. I'd save the money on slabbing it.
