Hello everyone, I am new here and just started collecting! I have come here in hopes to find out more about this penny I found today. It is a 2009 Lincoln bicentennial formative years penny. I noticed it had some silver blotches on certain parts of the coin and it also looks like it was not fully punched properly, the rim looks off center and also on the back it looks like the outer rim is also off center. Is anyone able to help distinguish if this is an error or from circulation ware.

The abrasion removed part of the plating. So the coin was altered. It wasn't struck like that. PSD. The gray is the zinc underneath.

Slid around on the cement floor for awhile. A god thing to help ID damaged coins vs errors is to remember if you can think of a way to duplicate what you see using tools etc., then almost always what you have is damage and not an error.

@mb, looks like you have used the same name for multiple pics and so now some of these pics are from a different coin. Better is to name your pic files with unique names so that there isn't this overlap. Thx.
